Film Society
This Society started in 2005. Another group had acquired a grant from Awards for All Wales, to equip the Millennium Hall with an improved audio visual system. In conjunction with this group, a licence was obtained for the public viewing of films and DVDs, and subsequently the Film Society set itself up.
A selection of films has been shown over the past three years of varying tastes and from varying countries. Attendances have varied from the projectionist only to over 35.
The program is pre-prepared and advertised in the Helgon Taf newsletter and also on posters in the Millennium Hall and Plash Inn, and the swinging board outside the Millennium Hall during the days before a showing. The more regular viewers have an e-mailed reminder a few days before the film night. Most showings have been on Saturday evenings.
The society have provided various technical improvements to the original system, including stero sound capability and remote laptop sound transmission.
Secretary / treasurer is John Spencer 01437 563573. Mike Oliver selects and prepares the film program.
