HENLLANFALLTEG COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Minutes of Henllanfallteg Community Association held on February 7th 2007 in the Millennium Hall at 7pm

Present  Myrddin Pynn, Mike Calvert, Stella Loader,John Spencer & Peter Icke.

Apologies   Dave King, Eve Edwards, Josie Thomas, Mike Hermitage, Gary MacKenzie.

The meeting was proceeded by a a joint Fete Committee meeting.

Minutes  The minutes of the January meeting were received and approved.

Matters Arising from the Minutes

Electrical Tests   A note from Dave King was read reminding the Committee that when the contractor eventually came it was vital that he saw the red book listing the hall electrical details.  The Committee agreed in principle to the idea of testing every 3 years which would cost more to start with but would save in the long term.

Future events

  • Choir  No date yet fixed.
  • Junior Football KO Competition  No further information.
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang  Singalong Friday March 2nd at 7pm
  • Antique Road Show  The History Society were hoping to organise the event in March or April.  The Committee suggested a Saturday instead of a Wednesday.
  • AGM  2nd May.  It was hoped that any persons intending to stand down as committee members or officers would make their position clear well before 2nd May.
  • Welsh Assembly Elections 3rd May.  The Secretary had put a £60 booking fee on the form.
  • Open Gardens  Sunday July 1st.  Garden owners had been invited in the latest Newsletter to put their names forward.
  • Walks - There would be an Easter Monday Walk
  • Fete
  • July 21st.  The joint committee had agreed that the proceeds of this year’s fete should go to the Community Association to help pay off the loan of £1700 made to the Park Trustees.  It was agreed that every fete stall should display a notice making clear that all proceeds were going to the cause and not to private individuals.
  • Mike Calvert offered to take a competition round when he delivered the June Newsletters.  “Where was this photo taken?” was a possibility.
  • Village Trip  Suggestions for a venue had been asked for in the Newsletter to be sent in for the March meeting.  Stella recommended Llanelli Wetlands rather than Cilgerran.

Hall Bookings

The party had gone off well but the oven needed attention afterwards.

An 80th birthday party was booked for the 17th February.

Past Events

The History Picture Show had proved popular and  the Committee hoped the History Society would organise more such events.

Hall maintenance and decoration works.

A maintenance day was held on Sunday February 4th.       The remaining outside walls were washed down but the red marks needed spraying with hypoclorate.  The carpark and surrounds were cleaned.  The borders were weeded and trimmed.  The hedge (tree tops) in the side garden had been trimmed.  Replacement of shrubs was in hand.  The skirting in the Ladies’ toilet was repaired and the oven and kitchen cupboards cleaned.  There had been no time to make good the wall by the audioviisual cabinet, put up photographs, or replace fluorescent tubes or piano castors.

It was decided to arrange a date for the next Maintenance Day at the March Meeting.

Finance

There was £8,088.75 in the deposit account and £997.60 in the current account.

A cheque was signed for £60 for the printing of the January Newsletter by Clayton Business Machines.

Newsletter

The January Newsletter was in the process of being delivered.  It was agreed that no future newsletters be delivered to two properties with unfriendly dogs.

The meeting closed at 8pm.
