Llanfallteg
Junior Football Club
The
idea of a junior football club was the brainwave of two Llanfallteg
parents, Ian Young and Alan Waters. They were discussing how the
village had expanded and how many youngsters there were - enough
for a Football Team!
After
recruiting team players and getting sponsorship for kit, the team
played their first game back in 2003 on the village playing field.
The team was made up of a mixture of all ages, boys and girls, many
of whom were from the same families.
From
that point, through word of mouth the club continued to expand and
new members joined from the village and the surrounding areas of
Tavernspite, Clunderwen, Cwmfelin Mynach and Llanboidy and it now
has 26 members. Sadly the size of the village playing field was
no longer sufficient for their games and the team took the decision
to become part of the Llanboidy Football Club in order to benefit
from their ground and facilities. However, a conscious decision
was made to retain the name Llanfallteg Junior Football Club.
The
club has now formed an official committee to manage the club and
its activities.
The committee members are:
Chairman - Owain Young
Vice Chairman - Dave Owen
Treasurer - Sinead Henehan
Secretary - Debbie Rainbow
The Club Manager (& Coach) - Alan Waters
Coach - George Rainbow |
