Llanfallteg Fete and Show 2006

1The weather running up to the 2006 fete had been exceptional, both very warm and also very dry. Would it last another day yet again? Well of course it did and so another highly successful and enjoyable day ensued.

Bouncy castle, inflatable slide and of course water slide and dunking stool all were very popular. Dunking stool had an exceptional day's takings, boosted by the £124 raised to dump Plash Landlord Steve into the tank. It couldn't have been scripted better, with Courtney having first throw and dumping him in first ball. Just the stuff all fetes need to raise the spirits.

In the hall there were more entries than ever, and the quality goes up every year. So very well done to all the entrants, and particularly so to the winners. This year we had an addition trophy to present, donated by Nellie Lewis. The judges were encouraged to give this for an exceptional entry in the show and the award went to Pat Reynolds. Other trophy winners were for the Jim Slater cup for best in show to Ann Mathias and the Tim Husband cup for the best junior entry went to Elliott Bowen

1We must not forget the help and effort that goes into organising our fete, so many thanks firstly to the Judges for their time and consideration, our sponsors and supporters everywhere, the contestants who brought along the entries, the mums and dads who brought their children, and lastly but just as important, all those who helped in the hall and on the field setting up, packing away and manning stalls.

Treasurer Jeff Beattie, who works just as hard as the rest getting floats, count takings and then banking it all up, has announced a provisional profit of over £1600 for the day. Another record. Thank you all for your support and generosity.

1Only disappointment on the day was not having the new swings and equipment in the toddlers play area. When ordered they was promised in June, but our supplier is now talking of August.
