To see the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis from where ever I can.
Watching documentaries on TV about the Northern Lights and the arctic simply captivated me into experiencing one of the worlds natural wonders.
Travel to North Cape in Norway and hopefully witness the Northern Lights from there. I'd also explore Norway and the famous Fjords found along it's Western coast.
Sensationally lucky and wanting more
The story behind completing this life list goal is quite unique, almost hard to believe.
I almost feel as if I was the only one there that day and it was all a dream. Here's what happened;
I saw the Northern Lights from my bedroom window, in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, UK.
Yes, as un-believable as that may seem, the Northern Lights were seen in Wales.

Some time back in early 2000, late one night around the midnight hour I was star gazing out of my bedroom window. It's a large full opening fire escape window and was perfect for star gazing and listening to the quiet countryside at night.
I noticed a green glow about the sky, thinking I'd been looking into darkness for two long I went back into my room for a minute or two. When I returned the green glow was even more vibrant, like an air brushed night sky in lush green.
At the time I had no idea what I was seeing, even though I knew what the Northern Lights were, it didn't even hit my radar that what I was seeing could actually have been the Northern Lights.
I went to my brothers room and tried to wake him, he made some mumbled sound and didn't move. My Dad was down the local pub, due home very soon, I went back to my window in a rush to watch the final display of green and purple dance across the night sky until it faded away to the default background of star's and space.
I quizzed my Dad when he came home, to no avail as it was far too late to be asking him such questions. So I was left to cherish the memory alone and feel as if I was the only one who saw the Northern Lights that day.
I questioned what I'd seen for years, looking on the Internet for articles or historical data mentioning that the Northern Lights were seen in Wales on such and such a date. I found records saying they had been witnessed in the UK before, but because I can't remember the exact date it happened I was finding it hard to narrow down.
I settled with the conscience that I saw the Northern Lights that day and it was going to be a moment that I'd cherish forever and always find inspiration from.
I have a burning desire to see them again, particularly with my family. I hope one day we can all travel North in search of the colourful sky's and I can share a magical moment like this for those I hold closest to me.
